Well, this is my first journal entry. Something you’ve all been dreading (I am sure), but it was inevitable. Suck it up!

I’ve been busy lately; I have spent a lot of money over this last week, and ended up with a brand new (and very good) Tamron SP Di 70-200mm F/2.8, a second hand (ebay) Tamron 200-400mm F/5.6, the best monopod + ball head my camera shop could sell me, UV filters to suit the lenses plus an 8GB card. I also had my sensor cleaned, much to the dismay of the assistant who soon realised that it was no ordinary dust! Good ol’ Jarrahdale dust! The best you can get; and if you live here you don’t even have to pay for it! Faithful AND inexpensive! It’d be nice if all people could have the same qualities...

Well, after spending so much I needed a good place to try it all out, so I went to Perth Zoo on Wednesday. It was supposed to be the last fine day we were going to get in at least a week; so I made the most of it (of course, you’re not forgetting that in the Southern Hemisphere it is actually winter). Trouble was, I wasn't used to carrying or using either of the two 1.2kg monsters (Bigma users... I don’t wanna hear it!), and I was determined to shoot all 12GB memory I had with me... So, not only did everything hurt for a good couple of days after I got back (I decided to not only carry all my new equipment but also my ‘standard’ working kit), but I am still sorting and fixing the 12GB of photos I shot! I’ve decided to fix, to a presentable state, 5% of the photos I took, and post most of them over a few days. So; anyone who wants to complain about my apparent lack of activity lately should feel the need to complain no longer, and those of you (the majority) who have enjoyed the freedom my lack of activity has offered should make the most of it! I’m almost done!

So, once I’m done with the zoo photos, I’ll need to find new subjects... Any suggestions? Bearing in mind we are expecting hail and 110km/h winds tonight (actually, right about now), and it looks like it’s staying for the rest of the week... Something indoors would be preferable...

And finally...

Well, thanks to tagging me, you’re just about to learn a bunch of facts that you never knew about me! Pay attention, they might just save your life some day...

1. I work as a kitchen hand at Millbrook Winery, Jarrahdale.
2. I am an engineering student at Curtin University of Technology.
3. I was forced to learn piano when I was 7; and I still play for fun.

5. I spend WAAAAAAAAY too much money on my photography equipment!
6. I have always lived with animals, and pets too!
7. I am (until Sunday) house-sitting for my next-door neighbour (But I still eat at home)!

9. I have never left Australia; hopefully that will change during my Christmas break.
10. I have been a member of Jarrahdale Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade for 6 years; I was the first Cadet and I am currently the youngest Active Fire-Fighter in our brigade.

Well... She did it to me. You had fun, right? Well, I’m sure if I ever did it to you, you would want to do it to someone else, right?
